How are bands changing the type of directors they chose to make their videos?

How are bands changing the type of directors they use to make their music videos?

Every Director has their own unique style that makes them identifiable to artists and bands alike. This is because when going to a director artists seek upon something different and unique to their own. When directing a video they usually take ideas from the band and intertwine them with their own to produce something almost surprising to both the artist and the audience. These ideas are usually up for interpretation constantly throughout the filming of a video. Like many Directors have certain strong and very opinionated views on popular culture and music. So whatever their passion or pet peev lies within can come through in the video. Bringing their own specific knowledge to a video. Possibly resulting in many advantages to a Artist or Band

How has the role of the director changed as the production and distribution of music videos has changed with emergence and use of new technologies?
