After uploading our music video to our computers. We loaded premiere elements and started to process. Gary gave me a quick tutorial as to what to do as i had never used any software of that sort before. He showed me how to speed up a clip, cut a clip, mute the sound of the clip and where the effects box was. Surprisingly i picked this up quite quick and before i knew it i was enjoying myself. Im glad we did it individually as i could have my own touch and the video then was mine. I decided to start my video at Moushold where George stood infront of a strong flashlight; i had cut quickly and on the beat which i think had a really effective affect. I then had a clip of George's eyes open wide when the lyric "wide awake i can't sleep now" was on. From this point on i have it so George is walking around anxiously around Norwich in the undergroud bit along st stepens that leads to ipswich road. When the track speeds up and heavy instrumental is introduced i sped up the pace of which George appears to walk so its all alot faster at points. We chose to all do our videos in black and white as our company YOUNIQUE is a black and white film specialist. Our song is about insomniac and i think black and white mirrors that in a way. If it was in colour it would clearly depict that it was daylight and would give off the wrong message. I used cross fade and dissiolve fade to different shots a occasionally but i made a conscious effort not to do this as much as i think too many effects can make a production look cheesy and overdone.
Doing this project alone i found helpful. I think it pushed me to work independantly and now i know how to use editing resources and i came to find i enjoyed doing so. Also its nice to see Jake's and Vikki's video in comparison to mine and to see what we all done differently and comparing and constrasting.
